چکیده

SummaryA first report on the phylogeography and phylogeny of widespread Holarctic species, Graphomya minor Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830, within its continuous range throughout northern Eurasia North America, is presented. The geographic patterns genetic morphological variability in G. were examined. phylogenetic structure was assessed using barcode fragment mitochondrial COI gene. We detected 35 unique haplotypes minor, with only two common for both Palaearctic Nearctic regions. A higher number Eurasian populations (27 haplotypes) than American samples (eight haplotypes). diversity DNA degree differences between five varies. Morphological analysis did not reveal correlations characters. comparison morphologically close (G. maculata, rufitibia) species ungava, minuta, americana, transitionis) made. newly obtained sequences (155) combined those published GenBank BOLD databases (76) analysed delimitation software ASAP. results these analyses validated revealed new lineages located north-eastern south-eastern Russia. Based our analyses, we concluded that a valid polymorphic junior synonym maculata; assign 30 unidentified from to named morphospecies.

Preservation of iridescent colours in Phorinia Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830 (Diptera: Tachinidae)

BACKGROUND Iridescent blue-green colours are exhibited by various organisms including several taxa in the Tachinidae (Diptera) with notable examples within the Afrotropical members of the genus Phorinia Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830. The vivid colouration observed in life quickly fades to a dull golden-yellow when a specimen is dried. Although well known, no published explanation has been given for t...
